Local and supra-local subsidies
Local and supra-local subsidies can be applied for by both artists and organisations. Always carefully read the terms and conditions of the subsidy you wish to apply for to determine whether you are eligible.
Local
Most cities and municipalities provide financial or logistical support for local initiatives. For this, please contact the culture department in your municipality.
Cultuurloket lists a number of local cultural subsidies. Also the Flemish Community Commission in the Brussels-Capital Region has a culture department and provides subsidies for the arts.
Supra-local
The support centre OP/TIL stimulates culture at a supra-local level. The emphasis is on connecting players from the broad cultural sector. Across the boundaries of municipalities, sectors and disciplines.
Under the Supra-local Cultural Activities Decree, they offer support in developing your subsidy applications:
- Twice a year for your unique and groundbreaking cultural projects.
- Once every 6 years for cultural cooperation between municipalities. The next round is in 2025.
Starting in 2024 there will also be a new subsidy regulation for small-scale supra-local cultural projects. The first deadline is 1 March 2024.
With this regulation, the Minister of Culture wants to also encourage smaller, less professionalised actors to collaborate and set up cultural projects at supra-local level
