De Theaterbib takes over legendary collection of the Flemish Theatre Institute (VTi)

OPENDOEK’s Theatre Library is the most actively used theatre library in the Dutch language area. As many as 23,000 different theatre texts can be found and borrowed there. Thanks to a cooperation between OPENDOEK and Flanders Arts Institute, the collection of the former VTi (Flemish Theatre Institute) was added to the existing collection of De Theaterbib.

The Theatre Library now has 23,000 different theatre texts available to a wide audience of both non-professionals and professionals. “Theatre makers from all over the country (and the Netherlands) use the Theatre Library. The texts easily get into the hands of theatre lovers.” says coordinator of The Theatre Library Bastiaan Malcorps. With 14,000 borrowings (6,000 digital) per year, it is the most active theatre library in the Dutch language area.

The collection can be consulted by anyone at OPENDOEK’s new location. The organisation moved to a new location at ItaliĆ«lei 6 in Antwerp. OPENDOEK’s open house is open to the public every weekday from 9am to 5pm, with an additional evening opening until 8pm on Mondays. Besides on site consultation, the texts can also be borrowed, physically or digitally.
