Flanders Arts Institute promotes cooperation and exchange between the arts field and policies in Flanders and the UK. Over the past decades, we have built strong relationships with cultural actors, platforms and intermediaries, and set up numerous programmes for UK professionals in Flanders and vice versa.

This year, we are exploring the impact of Brexit on existing networks and government instruments, and developing tools and proposals to protect, strengthen and sustain relations with the country. We will also visit Scotland, London and Wales with a delegation.

In September and October, we are planning more working visits and matchmaking sessions with arts organisations (and/or individual artists) from Flanders and the UK. There is also an open fund for visits by Flemish arts organisations to the UK. More information on this will follow soon.

Londen en Wales

Our colleagues map contacts, relationships and networks between Flanders and the UK, with a focus on diversity and inclusiveness.

In London, we will organise a “Diversity focused meeting” with the British Council and various organisations. Afterwards, we will also meet inclusion-focused delegations together with Arts Council England.

In Wales, we meet with a delegation that has been working on the Future Generations Act. The Well-being of Future Generations Act gives Wales the ambition, permission and legal obligation to improve their social, cultural, environmental and economic well-being. During our visit, we will focus on Arts & Health, as well as inclusion and diversity in the arts. We are working with the British Council, Arts Council Wales and Wales Arts International.
