National theatre for young audiences network gathering (Antwerp)

ASSITEJ – Association Internationale du Théâtre de l’Enfance et la Jeunesse, or International Association of Theatre for Children and Young People – unites theatres, organisations and individuals throughout the world who make art for children and young people. The members of ASSITEJ are national centres – today some 85 –, professional networks, and individuals from around one hundred countries across the world, one of which is Belgium. Everyone who is professionnally active in relation to the performing arts for young audiences in Belgium can become a member, whether an individual or working for an organisation. Each year, ASSITEJ organises a number of activities and one national gathering. Traditionally, activities and national gatherings are members-only events.

On 10 October 2017, ASSITEJ Belgium will organise a national gathering during the Mind the World Festival by HETPALEIS in Antwerp. The festival’s first edition will be organised from 5 until 15 October 2017. It will group (international) performances for children and youngsters that explicitly relate to some pressing issues in our society of today. In addition to shows, the festival programme will feature workshops and reflection. Traditionally, the theme(s) of the national gathering will be closely related to those of the festival.
