Spend a week in nature and help Nat Gras to test their residency concept

Residentie
Nat Gras

The residence of the company Nat Gras is a place in nature to relax, take a break, adjust or completely immerse yourself. It is a place where artists can stay for a week.

What?

The residence is located on the edge of the nature park Kalmthoutse Heide – De Zoom. Contact with nature and a stay of several days is the ideal combination for anyone who wants to step out of their daily planning for a week to deepen, feel, look ahead, … around his or her artistry. For this reason, we expect a full week engagement; going home on Wednesday interrupts the deepening process and is therefore not desirable.

The process is supported by 2 walk & talk walks. On Monday you go for a walk with a coach. You get to know the environment and the possibilities of the place. In addition, you and the coach try to get as clear a picture as possible of what you want to get out of your week
and how you want to approach this.

You fill in the week by yourself with walking, reading, or whatever you think is necessary. Do you want to chop wood, spend the night outside or bake a cake every day; everything can be discussed….

On Friday you have another walk & talk where you see how your week went, what you take home and how you can get started at home. There is no indoor workspace; inside there is only your bedroom / bathroom and the communal living room / kitchen. But… there is a lot of outdoor space: the garden consists of coniferous and deciduous forest, orchard, lawn and pond. Through the back gate you are on the heath in no time.

For whom?

  • artists who want to reflect on their artistic journey. Where am I, what do I want to develop further, what am I going to phase out in the future, how can I make myself visible in the field in a different way, ….
  • artists at the very beginning of a new creation. What exactly do I want to say? Why? How wide is my theme? Which concept / working method is most suitable? Where are the different layers in my subject, ….

About Nat Gras

Nat Gras is a non-profit organization whose main activity is to create dance performances. It was founded by Goele Van Dijck. In addition to dance, Goele has also studied nature coaching. She will accompane the 2 walk & talk walks and will be your point of contact. She developed this residency idea within Nat Gras because she is convinced that every artist benefits from reflecting, feeling and looking ahead from a calm and in contact with nature. This is a way for her to keep her own artistic practice fresh, alive and close to herself.
