Soundmine is looking for composers
SoundMine is an international internship for composition and creation led by top-level artists and teachers. For five days, they will work intensively towards a presentation of their own composition. The exploration of new styles and experiments with improvisation and notation are strongly encouraged. During the internship, there is an additional focus on the crossover between acoustic instruments and electronics.
Several young composers will have the chance to experience rehearsals and performances of their own work. Ultimately, the entire week will be devoted to a showcase where all compositions will be performed.
What?
Established composers such as Jorrit Tamminga, Lucas Lebrun and Diederik Glorieux are in charge of coaching. During the internship, other renowned guest teachers will also provide additional sessions.
Specifically, this year will focus on composition for instrument & live electronics in collaboration with HERMESensemble, and composition for choir in collaboration with Vlaams Radiokoor. By collaborating with these ensembles, participants will have the opportunity to perform and discuss their compositional ideas.
Following this internship, composers writing for electronic/acoustic repertoire will also have the opportunity to participate in The Times Academy, a project of HERMESensemble, Musica Impulse Centre, MATRIX [Centrum voor Nieuwe Muziek] and Centre Henri Pousseur.
Thanks to a collaboration with vocal ensembles Huniyāgar and De 2de Adem, several young composers will have the chance to experience rehearsals and performances of their own work written for an amateur choir.

Participants
Young people aged 15 and above and adults with a thorough knowledge of music and a passion for composing and creating.
