International Dance Encounter Amman and the Young Dance Network are offering a residency forprofessional dance artists interested in dynamic collaboration in Jordan.
- Are you looking for a residency to work on a dance performance for children?
- Do you have a specific interest in the Arab region and would like to discover the Jordanian contemporary dance scene?
- Are you interested in developing your project within a different cultural context by participating in the local artistic scene of Amman?
IDEA wants to make this possible by offering a residency that focuses on the potential of exchange. During this residency we aim to make a link and bond between visiting artists from around the world with the independent Jordanian art scene — a scene with many emerging dance makers!
We welcome all international artists who are committed to pushing the boundaries of their own process and practice through new encounters and are interested in discovering the artistic reality of Jordan.
By addressing the perception that dance creation for young audiences is not present enough in Jordan, IDEA festival is offering this open call to support a different way of collaborating internationally. Although workshops and masterclasses given by international guest artists are often present in Jordan, in-depth conversations from both sides about why we create and how we create are rare. Collective explorations across disciplines and cultures, working side by side, taking risks, thinking big and reflecting on the complexity and beauty of our societies and ourselves is even rarer.
Hence we propose this residency as an artistic encounter, a human encounter, a journey into friendship.
