OPEN CALL — ICE SCULPTURES (MAL D’ARCHIVE)
As part of our upcoming exhibition Mal d’Archive, exploring preservation, Ontsteking is launching an open call for artists to create a work with ice—interpreted in the broadest possible way.
We invite proposals for ephemeral sculptures, installations, or gestures involving ice, freezing, or the act of melting. This could be literal, poetic, critical, or playful. The selected works will be presented during the exhibition opening and left to defrost during a dinner event, with the possibility of being displayed in a freezer during the exhibition or otherwise, depending on the concept.
PRACTICAL DETAILS:
• 2 to 3 concepts will be selected and realized.
• Depending on your proposal, Ontsteking will provide either a block of ice (50 x 100 x 25 cm) or cover production costs.
• The works will be stored in a freezer and left to defrost during the event, unless conceptually not appropriate.
• Artist fee: €300, possibly adjusted based on production costs.
• On-site creation is possible.
• Submission deadline: 09/06/2025
• Exhibition: 04/07 – 20/07/2025
