De Koer

De Koer is a place in full development, a lively field for many diverse projects and initiatives: screenings, concerts, residencies, collective creative projects, a kitchen and a café.

De Koer is working on a collectively supported redevelopment of the Meibloem hall, a historic site of 2000 square meters in the middle of the Brugse Poort in Ghent. The construction plans are postponed: in this way, it creates time and space to give the place an exploratory form, and an ideal soil to invite residents. The residents go to work with, on, and around the site: from street performances to archaeological excavations, from visual interventions to wondrous falls, from a composition for the building to a revaluation of the house. The imagination of the site is fuelled, the field is open, the game can be played.
