Musical Heritage Sector Day as part of the Belgian Music Days

09 Nov 2026
Sector day Muziekcentrum De Bijloke

Heritage preservation is receiving increasing attention within the contemporary music sector. Following a call for proposals from the Flemish Department of Culture, Youth and Media, five projects set to work on the legacies of Luc Brewaeys, Wim Henderickx, the Logos Foundation, Georges-Elie Octors and Serge Verstockt. These inspiring case studies provide the basis for an open discussion on the unique characteristics and challenges of contemporary musical heritage.

How do you catalogue an archive of this kind? Are traditional methods sufficient, or is there a need for alternatives? And what happens when we want to play the music again? This sector meeting will focus on the exchange of experiences, insights and best practices. At the same time, we will reflect on the questions to which we may not (yet) have answers.
