Visitors programme Serge Klymko, Kyiv Biennale 2027
Flanders Arts Institute is inviting Serge Klymko, co-founder and director of the Kyiv Biennale, to visit our country from 28 September to 2 October. As part of this visitor programme, we will be introducing him to the Flemish art scene through site visits and meetings with arts organisations, in the run-up to the next edition of the Kyiv Biennale.
Biography
For over 15 years, Serge Klymko has worked as a curator, cultural manager, and researcher across visual and performance art, music, and planetary research, realizing projects in Barcelona, Berlin, Geneva, Kyiv, Malmö, Prague, Riga, Tbilisi, Vienna, and Warsaw. Since 2015, he has been co-founder and managing director of the Kyiv Biennial, an international forum of exhibitions and discussion platforms connecting art, knowledge, and politics; its 6th edition opened across Kyiv, Dnipro, Antwerp, Linz, and Warsaw in 2025. In 2016 he founded Khashi, an interdisciplinary space for performative arts and urban ecosystem research in Kyiv, and in 2018 he co-founded the East European Biennial Alliance. Since the start of the full-scale war, he has led the Emergency Support Initiative, supporting Ukraine’s artistic community amid unprecedented destruction and displacement.
