Sustainable Practices, Online Residency Program
IOAEA is delighted to invite applications for our July-August 2025 Online Residency Program – a remarkable chance to connect with a global community of like-minded creatives and elevate your practice within the realms of ecological and sustainable art.
Our 2-month online residency fosters a collaborative, interconnected environment where international eco-artists can cultivate their sustainability focused practices and expand their artistic perspectives through constructive feedback and mutual support. Open to creators of all
nationalities and disciplines, this program brings artists together virtually to engage in discussion, work, collaborate, and find inspiration, transcending geographical boundaries.
This residency offers dedicated time and space for research, experimentation, and artistic development, culminating in a final presentation of your work.
About IOAEA
Founded in 2021 by Portuguese artist Joana Alarcão, IOAEA is an art organisation dedicated to amplifying the voices of artists and designers who drive societal change through creative practices. Over the years, it has grown into a collaborative hub fostering interdisciplinary artistic exploration in the realms of sustainability, materiality, and conceptual networks.
What do we provide?
- Collaborative weekly group sessions with a close-knit group of 4 to 6 international artists, fostering meaningful exchange and peer feedback every week.
- Weekly lectures to expand your knowledge on ecological art and sustainability, framing your practice within the international eco-art community and exploring innovative approaches to sustainability.
- Participate in 2 exclusive sessions led by guest curators and artists/sustainability experts, and gain valuable feedback and insights from leading voices in the art and sustainability world.
- Personalized Curatorial & Technical Support through weekly sessions, focusing on project development and technical refinement.
- An immersive virtual exhibition where you will present your residency project to a global audience through an engaging online exhibition.
- Alumni Network: Join our growing alumni network to connect with past participants, share opportunities, and receive ongoing support.
- Catalogue: IOAEA creates a publication featuring participating artists of each edition, each artist is given a dedicated page with a statement text and image of their project. Residents will also receive printed catalogues.
- Strategic Promotion: Benefit from a Residency profile on IOAEA website, a written interview and a short introductory video to add to social media and newsletter.

- Location: Global (remote participation via Riverside.FM and email)
- Duration: 2 months (8 weeks)
- Time Frame: July 7th to August 29th
- Deadline: June 14th, 2025
- Program Fee: 500 euros (A fully funded scholarship is available for one exceptional emerging artist. Contact us for more information.)
