Pitch your performance project during Kunstenfestivaldesarts

Are you preparing a project within the performing arts (creation in 2023-2024) and would you like to share your ideas with (inter)national professionals and venues? Pitch your project to programmers from Belgium and abroad during Plat(e)form(e) at Kunstenfestivaldesarts.

What is Plat(e)form(e)?

Plat(e)form(e) invites international professionals from the performing arts field to Brussels during Kunstenfestivaldesarts to discover the local performing arts scene. This way we hope to promote new networks and lasting exchanges.

On May 16th and 17th, 10 performing artists/companies (solo’s, duo’s and/or trio’s) from Flanders, Brussels and Wallonia will have the opportunity to pitch their work to international programmers and other artists. 

This visitors’ programme is co-produced by Wallonie-Bruxelles Théâtre Danse (WBTD), Flanders Arts Institute and Kunstenfestivaldesarts.

For whom?

  • This call is aimed at artists/companies that are active in Flanders, Brussels and Wallonia
  • Your pitch can range from work-in-progress to a finished performance (max 30’ in total)
  • Each project will receive a fee of €250

How to apply?

Send us a presentation of your project(-in-progress) with the following information (max. 3 pages A4) in English:

  • A presentation of the artistic proposal
  • National and/or international partners
  • Technical information
  • Budgetary data (fee, need for co-production, etc.) 
  • International distribution/spreading strategy/explanation of the desired international context for the project

Conditions

  • The artist/company must be professionally active and based in Belgium.
  • The artist/company must be able to prove the support of the Belgian partner(s).
  • The project is created for the 2023-2024 season.
  • It must be a performance within the performing arts (priority to dance, performance and interdisciplinary work).
  • The project must have international potential.
  • The artist/company must be available in the afternoon on 16 and 17 May
  • The performance project is still a work in progress and has not premiered yet

Jury

The jury will be represented by Sofie Joye (Kunstenpunt), Dries Douibi (Kunstenfestivaldesarts), Kopano Maroga (VIERNULVIER), Bertrand Lahaut, Fabienne Aucant (Charleroi Danse) & Sévérine Latour (Résponsable Danse au Ministère de la Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles)

Selection criteria

The jury will pay attention to:

  • Content and originality of the artistic proposal (innovative and unique character of the performance, quality of the production, etc.).
  • Quality of the submitted file and professionalism of the artist or company emerging from the file
  • The selection will focus on projects, performances and emerging companies eligible for international distribution

A maximum of 10 projects will be selected.

Planning

  • Submission of applications: no later than 9 April 2023 at 18:00 CET
  • Selection by the jury: 11 April 2023
  • Response to artists: 12 April 2023
