Pitch your new creation to international programmers at Krokusfestival 2024

Are you an artist or company active within performing arts for young audiences? Do you have a new creation (production in 2023-2024) with the ambition to tour (inter)nationally? Pitch your creation to programmers from Belgium and abroad during our professional network moment at Krokusfestival 2024.

Krokusfestival is an international arts festival for young audiences. Every year, the festival presents about 30 productions, both from Belgium and abroad. The festival also welcomes about 12,000 visitors every year, including about 200 professional visitors (festival directors, programmers, artists, impresarios). In 2024, Krokusfestival will take place between 07 and 15 February.

One of the festival’s objectives is (inter)national networking between makers and programmers. This is why we are exited to launch this open call to makers in Flanders and Wallonia to pitch your new projects on the 13th of February 2024.

The places are limited to 15 presentations. The focus is on the international potential and distinctive character of a projects. The applications will be evaluated on their eligibility based on the criteria drafted for this call. If there are more applications than space available, a selection will be made by a jury composed of Julia Reist (Kunstenpunt) and 3 external members from different positions of the field.*

For whom

  • This call is aimed at artists/companies working with and for young audiences (0-12j), andthat are based in Flanders, Brussels and Wallonia
  • This call is open to artists/companies from any  nationality, religion, ethnicity, age, gender
  • The pitch is focused on finished productions that can tour (inter)nationally, as early as season 2024-2025

Criteria:

  • Content and originality of the artistic proposal (innovative and unique character of the performance, quality of the production, etc.)
  • The production has an international ambition, meaning the work is adaptable to the international public (language, subtitles, local infrastructures)
  • The production has an ecological consciousness towards touring (transportability of scenography, team, material)

What we offer

  • Possibility to pitch your project to an international group of professionals
  • Artists/companies that do not receive structural subsidies or aren’t part of a structural funded organization, receive an artist fee of 150€ for their preparation and pitch
  • Travel to and from Krokusfestival will be reimbursed 
  • Lunch will be provided

How to apply

Send us a presentation of your project with the following information (max. 3 pages A4) inEnglish, Dutch or French:

  • A presentation of the artistic proposal
  • Link to video material if available
  • (Inter)national partners/co-productions of the project & performance calendar (if available)
  • Technical information
  • International distribution/spreading strategy/explanation of the desired international context for the project
  • Motivation for the international relevance of the project

A maximum of 15 projects will be selected.

Planning:

  • Submission of applications: no later than 15th of January 2024 at 20:00 CET
  • (In case needed) jury: 19th of January 2024 
  • Response to artists: 19th of January 2024 by 18:00 CET
