Open call: Portraits for Profiles Issue 4

Call
Profiles

Profiles seeks portraiture across all visual media for the fourth issue of our literary and vis-arts
journal. We’re open to experimental twists on the definition of ‘portrait’ — we want to see a vibrant
personality, however you’ve captured it. Selected artworks will appear in print and be featured in
our exhibition at the James Joyce Centre in Dublin, Ireland, in November 2025.

Profiles is an independent journal dedicated to character studies and portraiture, supported by Dublin City Council. We feature work by writers, translators and artists living in Ireland and abroad. We especially welcome submissions from artists who are underrepresented in the arts due to their ethnicity, socio-economic background, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability or age.

We offer payment of €200 for each artwork we publish.

We also accept submissions of fiction and non-fiction and are happy to accept submissions of artwork and writing from the same individual over the course of one submission period. However, please submit them using separate forms, unless they are part of the same project (in which case please use the writing submission form and combine your artwork and written piece in a single document).

Ensure you read our guidelines in full before submitting your work — they are also available in OpenDyslexic font. Please submit your work via our Google form. Submissions are not accepted via email. (Please note: you must sign in with a Google account to access the form, but we will contact you via the email you provide manually.) Artwork: ‘Aimée’, watercolour on paper, by Marie Le Men (@marie_lemen_artworks) in Profiles
issue 3.
