Open Call Par Hasard

Call
Par Hasard

On May 23, Par Hasard is organizing ‘Par Hasard x Giftshop‘ together with Giftshop. We invite audiences to come and nose into the cooking pots of artists. Spectators do not always get the opportunity to get an insight into the whole process that leads to a final performance or show. And that is exactly what we want to change.
Through this open call we would like to invite makers, performers, musicians, poets, dancers… to apply to participate in this Par Hasard edition. The idea is to give you the opportunity to show your work-in-progress in simple, clear and appropriate context. You can present your work-in-progress to a wide audience in order to take the next step in the creation process.

On May 23, at 2 p.m., 5 p.m. and 8 p.m., there will be a parcours where an audience of up to 30 people will take a tour of four work-in-progress projects (each 15 minutes long). Afterwards, each time there will be an open conversation with the artists and the audience present, where the artists can ask questions directly about how the audience interpreted and felt about their work.

We also try to work as much as possible with the given of the ‘relaxed performance’.

To make this ‘Par Hasard x Giftshop’ possible, we are looking for 4 work-in-progress projects. Hence this open call!

For who

– You have a degree in the arts or relevant experience in the arts sector

– you share a work-in-progress or an experiment (max 15min)

– your work is suitable for the location (limited technical resources)

– your work-in-progress should have a performative character

Some interesting questions to include in your candidacy:

  • At what stage is your project? What exactly do you want to investigate?
  • What is the added value of feedback from an audience for your project? Are there specific questions for the audience?
  • What does this performance mean within your (already completed) trajectory as an artist? Is it a completely new direction, or rather a deepening of your work?

Important

– Travel expenses from countries outside of Belgium cannot be reimbursed.

– Focus on performing arts

– Rehearsals will take place on May 22. The festival will be on May 23.
