Do you have an idea for a project within the arts? Or are you an artist and in need of research or development within your artistic practice? The subsidies of the Arts Decree are the Flemish government’s main subsidies for the professional arts.

If you have decided to file for a grant or project subsidy, it is best to start preparing in time.

• • Log in on KIOSK and create your file. Go through the KIOSK manual and read more about mandates or assigning rights.

• • Read the manual of Cultuurloket on budgeting for project subsidies.

• • Start writing your dossier and preparing the budget! You do not need to prepare a budget when applying for a grant.

Having trouble writing out your file? Would you like to exchange views with fellow artists, art professionals or experts? Or would you like feedback on specific parts of your dossier?

Then join other artists and art workers in working on your application at writing tables in several Flemish cities.

• • For the 15 September deadline, writing tables will continue in July and August.
  • For the 15 March deadline, writing tables will take place in January and February.

• Three to two weeks before the deadline!

It is best to make sure your file and budget (in case of a project grant) are complete three to two weeks before the deadline. This gives you time to have your application reviewed and still make any changes.

You can ask experts, as well as people within your network.

• • Ask if your file is clear and concrete.

• • Is it clear how you will implement the plans made and why you are making certain choices?

• • Does the relevance of your file come across clearly?

The support centres do not read files or cannot do individual counselling for your application.

Are you submitting a project subsidy? Then also have your budget and the figure annex reviewed.

• • Did you fill in the grade annex correctly? And calculated everything correctly?
  • Is your business planning written clearly?
  • Have you applied the principles of fair practices correctly?

Have you made the final changes? Then you are ready to submit your grant application! Don’t do this too close to the deadline.

To avoid stress, make sure you submit a few days to a few hours before the deadline so you can also make technical changes if necessary.

• • Mandatory form requirements apply to a grant file: failure to comply with them can result in an error message in KIOSK.
