What is Courants du monde individual short-term program?
Courants du monde is a welcoming program tailored for international cultural professionals seeking to deepen their understanding of the French cultural landscape.
For English or French-speaking international cultural professionals, this individual short-term program provides a nine-day tailored stay in France to support the development of a concrete cultural project.
Objectives
The purpose is to facilitate networking between foreign professionals and potential French partners to foster new collaborative cultural projects.
Who can apply?
French-speaking or English-speaking foreign cultural professionals working in national, regional, or local cultural administrations, institutions, and organizations across all cultural sectors.
Eligibility criteria
This international program welcomes experienced cultural professionals from around the world who are actively engaged in cultural projects within their home countries.
These professionals must be engaged, or about to engage, in a cultural project with French partners. However to achieve this, they need to develop their knowledge of, and contacts within, the French cultural sector.
Ineligibility criteria
The program is not open to artists, students, teachers, researchers, of representatives of the French cultural network abroad (Cooperation and Cultural Action Services of the French Embassy, Alliances françaises, Instituts Français) who may benefit from other programs.
Covered expenses
The French Ministry of Culture will cover the following expenses for participants:
- program costs and organisation
- accomodation
- meals
- transportation
- insurance
Please note: international travel expenses and visa fees (if applicable) are not covered by the program. These expenses must be borne by the selected applicants, their employer, the French embassy or local French institute, or any other sponsor.
Selection process
All applications are assessed against the following criteria:
- quality of the professional initiative underlying the application
- impact on the applicant’s home institution
- prospects for developing further cooperations with French institutions
Calendar
- Application deadline: 15 March 2026
- Application selection: April 2026
- The final list of selected applicants will be disclosed to the Cooperation and Cultural Action Services of the French Embassy or your local French Institute by the end of April 2026
- Scheduled stay in France: 6-14 October 2026
How to apply?
A complete application should include the following documents:
- your application form
- a copy of your passport, or your ID card (European citizens or citizens from visa exempt countries)
- a photo (head)
These documents must be submitted electronically to the Cooperation and Cultural Action Services of the French Embassy or your local French Institute for review.
Once reviewed, all the documents will be forwarded by the Cooperation and Cultural Action Services of the French Embassy or your local French Institute to the Ministry of Culture.
