Artiesten training labs voor regisseurs en kunstenaars gespecialiseerd in jeugdtheater
What?
As part of the BUZZ project we will host five multinational training labs. These international exchanges will be a unique opportunity to learn, share and develop your professional practice with other artists and cultural leaders from across Europe. Artists Labs are for professional directors and artists who create performance work with young people, each Artists’ Lab will focus on a different topic in contemporary youth theatre practice.
The third Artists Training Lab will be held at Rogaland Theater in Stavanger, Norway, from 6 – 10 March 2023.
This funded five-day programme will offer professional youth theatre artists the chance to explore dramaturgical approaches to youth theatre. Exploring:
- How we can equip our dramaturgical toolbox?
- Dramaturgy beyond text, how can these tools be used throughout all areas of performance.
- Does the written word still have its place in youth theatre?
- How do we start our projects? How can we identify what dramaturgical approach needed to make our project clearer?
WHAT WILL HAPPEN DURING THE ARTISTS LAB?
- Rogaland Teater’s Children and Youth Theatre Department will be the host and central hub for the Lab.
- Participants will take part in a series of activities exploring how Dramaturgy can be used with in a youth theatre context.
- Participants will watch performances both by the youth and the adult theatre and meet the people behind the performances.
- Participants will also have enough space to gain insights into their work, methods and best practices via workshops, debates and presentations in peer-to-peer groups.
- Participants will get the chance to workshop their own ideas for performances in peer groups.

WHO WILL TAKE PART
Up to 17 artists from across Europe will be selected for this training opportunity:
- Two artists from each of Scotland, Ireland, Belgium & Germany will be selected.
- Four artists from Norway will be selected.
- There will be five places available for artists applying from elsewhere in Europe.
Applicants will be selected who meet the eligibility criteria outlined below.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
We want to ensure that as many perspectives as possible are reflected within the BUZZ Network Artists Lab, and therefore encourage applications from a diverse range of applicants.
Training Labs are open to theatre artists who:
- Create work with young people.
- Want to develop their artistic practice
- Can demonstrate how the opportunity to work internationally will enhance their practice.
- Can demonstrate how the Lab’s theme ‘Dramaturgical Approaches to youth theatre’ will be of particular benefit to their practice.
- Are able to attend all dates of the Lab between 6 – 10 March 2023 in Stavanger, Norway. (Additional travel days may be required.)
- Are based in the European Union, or another eligible country, including UK. More details here.
