Job vacancy: performing arts professional, with a focus on networking, exchange and international matchmaking (100%)

Do you have a passion for the performing arts and a network within the sector? Do you enjoy bringing people together to meet and exchange ideas? Do you enjoy connecting artists and arts professionals here and abroad? Flanders Arts Institute is looking for a performing arts colleague with a focus on development, exchange and international matchmaking (m/f/x/, full-time).

Flanders Arts Institute is the support centre for the visual arts, the performing arts and classical music in Flanders. We build and share knowledge, bring people together, help artists and arts professionals to network internationally, and much more.

We are looking for a colleague with knowledge of and a passion for the performing arts, who organises events on a variety of scales, and who fosters local and international networking amongst creators and arts professionals in Flanders.

What?

  • You will organise a range of events – both in-person and online – to facilitate encounters and exchanges within the performing arts in Flanders, at both local and international levels.
  • You will help build the international network of artists and arts professionals in Flanders. You will do this through targeted initiatives at major festivals or other events, both in Flanders and abroad.
  • You will commission and coordinate research and writing projects that map out the various sub-sectors of our performing arts field.
  • You have a strong network within the performing arts or in parts of it: (musical) theatre, youth theatre, performance, dance, crossovers. You ensure that you distribute your efforts and attention as fairly as possible across these different sectors.
  • You’re not on your own! You’ll have colleagues doing the same work for music and the visual arts, and you’ll consult with a colleague specialising in innovation and development within the performing arts. What’s more, you’ll receive support in the planning and production of your events, and you’ll be part of a team of eight that carries out our core tasks for the arts sector.

Your profile

  • You have a passion for the arts and a deep understanding of the performing arts in Flanders.
  • You have a broad, inclusive and contemporary perspective on the arts.
  • You love people and enjoy bringing them together. You are a natural matchmaker, including on an international level.
  • You have an interest in arts policy.
  • You have a strong network within the performing arts sector.
  • You can speak and write fluently in Dutch.

Are we the colleagues you’re looking for?

  • Your colleagues are deeply passionate about supporting, promoting and developing the arts.
  • Our team is always open to new perspectives.
  • We take a results-oriented approach and work flexibly, both in terms of working hours and location.
  • You’ll find us at our office in the Ravensteingalerij, between Brussels Central Station and BOZAR. Right in the city centre and close to the Warande Park.

What do we offer?

  • A full-time contract of indefinite duration (80% is negotiable).
  • Remuneration in accordance with PC 329.01, category B1a (seniority will be taken into account).
  • Reimbursement for your participation in cultural activities in the performing arts, visual arts and classical music in Flanders and Brussels.
  • A laptop, reimbursement of your expenses and work-related mobile phone costs.
  • Flexible working hours and the option to swap Catholic public holidays for other public holidays.
  • A travel pass for your journeys between home and work on public transport.
  • Hospitalisation insurance, meal vouchers and an end-of-year bonus.

How to apply?

  • Please send your CV and covering letter to vacatures@kunsten.be by 8 November 2026 the latest. In your application, please explain clearly why you are a suitable candidate and what appeals to you most about this role. Please also state which scenes, circuits or sub-disciplines you are particularly familiar with or follow closely.

  • The first interviews will take place on 23, 24 and 25 November at Flanders Arts Institute. A possible second round of interviews is scheduled for the afternoon of 8 December. You may be given a small assignment in preparation for this second round, so that we can gain a better understanding of your vision for the field and assess your knowledge and skills.
