Open call for emerging artists for a collective exhibition
Are you an emerging artist who wishes to make your voice heard, share your perspective, your memories, your heritage, your struggles, or your dreams through your artistic practice?
As part of an upcoming group exhibition at Espace Magh (Brussels), we are launching a call for projects aimed at students, emerging artists, and collectives from all disciplines (visual arts, plastic arts, sound, painting, photography, installation, video, textiles, etc.) around the theme:
“How are Amazigh heritages embodied, transmitted, or reinvented today? How are connections woven between memory, transmission, territories, struggles, languages, imagination, belonging, pride, or erasure?”
Located in the heart of Brussels, Espace Magh is a cultural center whose goal is to promote cultures from the Mediterranean basin. Its uniqueness lies in its focus on minoritized cultures, its openness to artists from immigrant backgrounds—who are often underrepresented—and its role as a echo chamber for certain authors from the Global South or elsewhere, remarkable yet overlooked, who have not found a platform elsewhere.
This exhibition aims to provide visibility, recognition, and a spotlight for emerging artists, directly or indirectly connected to Amazigh cultures, histories, and imaginaries, within a Belgian and diasporic context.
It will also offer an opportunity to create dialogue with the artworks, experiences, and perspectives, revealing the richness and diversity of contemporary Amazigh expressions and showcasing their vitality, tensions, and transformations.
Objectives
- Highlight creations related to Amazigh identities
- Provide exhibition space accessible to emerging artists who are often less visible in institutional circuits
- Foster dialogue among the various exhibited works and artists
- Facilitate encounters between audiences, artists, and cultures in motion
What we offer
- Free participation in a collective exhibition at a cultural venue in the heart of Brussels
- Artistic and technical support within the project framework
- Promotion of your work (vernissage, visibility during events, communication, mediation, audience engagement)
Who can participate
Any artist based in Belgium, regardless of origin or background, practicing any form of artistic expression (individually or collectively), whether the Amazigh identity is lived, transmitted, claimed, observed, or questioned
How to participate
Send your application to esther.weg@espacemagh.be before Monday, October 31, 2025, including:
- A short statement of intent (max. 1 page) describing your artistic approach and its connection to the theme
- Some visuals or excerpts of your work (portfolio, website links, videos…)
- A CV or document summarizing key steps in your career
- Your complete contact details
- Selected participants will be announced on November 15, 2025
