Open call: residency in Dingen die niet verkopen
Dingen die niet verkopen and Samenschool offer a residency in July for an artist or collective that feels at home within the concept of Dingen. During this period, the artist has the chance to create or develop, or to just experiment, inspired by this particular space. At the end, there will be a short exhibition, performance or celebration of this work. All possible art forms are welcome: visual or performative, from sound to literature.
Dingen die niet verkopen is the artist-run initiative by Amber De Saeger, Alec De Bruyn, and Lodewijk Heylen. This art space is located int he center of Antwerp, and organizes rotating exhibitions, performances and happenings. We are constantly looking for a structure that differs from the classical gallery – research, development and freedom to experiment are key. Dingen offers a space for creation and presentation of your work or work in progress.
For the makers who have to travel a bit too far from their homes to Antwerp, we can provide a private room in a communal home. Samenschool is an open and horizontal meeting place, where cooperation is stimulated. The kitchen is the heart of the house: everything starts with eating and talking together at the kitchen table. Many different types of collaboration are explored to come to a creative result: cooking, gardening, printing, protesting,… Joke Caimo, Samenschool’s own resident for life, will offer coaching for this residency, as well as Alec, Amber, and Lodewijk of Dingen die niet verkopen.
What we offer:
- Space on ground level of ±17m2 with a big display window
- Cellar space of ±30m2
- Exhibition/performance/… at the end of July.
Presence in communication of Dingen die niet verkopen: website, social media,… - Budget of €800 excl. VAT per invoice or interim for the presentation of the work (in progress)
- A guided residency with artistic support from our own disciplines.
How to apply? Send a mail with residency proposal, contact info and short bio/links to relevant works to info@ddnv.be before the end of May 11th (23:59) and you will receive an answer as soon as possible.
