House Van Wassenhove

Museum Dhondt-Dhaenens organises residencies in the iconic Woning Van Wassenhove, a landmark modernist building designed by the Flemish architect Juliaan Lampens in Sint-Martens-Latem, near Ghent, Belgium.

The residencies allow a Europe-based candidate of any nationality to stay in the Woning Van Wassenhove for up to 4 consecutive weeks . Since the Woning is a single person heritage house, the emphasis is primarily on reflection and research, although production that respects the integrity of the house is possible. The residency programme at the Woning Van Wassenhove is a partnership between Stichting Mevrouw Jules Dhondt-Dhaenens and the Lampens Estate.

The residency provides a practitioner in any artistic visual field the time and space to reflect on and further their practice in the Woning Van Wassenhove. The resident will benefit from the support, communication and institutional network of Museum Dhondt-Dhaenens. In addition, the resident will, in consultation with Museum Dhondt-Dhaenens, organise a public moment — talk, performance, publication, broadcast, presentation... — following the residency. The residency covers travel costs, a per diem and a production budget for the presentation moment.

Several open calls are held to select a candidate with a specific profile within or partly outside the field of visual arts. After a first selection, a jury assesses a longlist to select a candidate.
