Performing arts professional? Join Highlights from the Lowlands during Theaterfestival Boulevard
The visitors’ programme Highlights from the Lowlands introduces international performing arts professionals to an intriguing selection of Flemish and Dutch productions. For this year’s edition, Flanders Arts Institute joins forces with Dutch Performing Arts and Theaterfestival Boulevard.
Every summer, during the first two weeks of August, Theaterfestival Boulevard transforms the entire city of ’s-Hertogenbosch (the Netherlands) into a stage. Performances take place inside and outdoors; in (temporary) venues, museums, public space and other less obvious locations – facilitating the artists’ ideas about where to make and show their art.
Boulevard co-produces and develops a variety of productions: large and small-scale work ranging from theatre to installation art. During 11 days the festival welcomes an audience of 140.000 people and presents 75 productions from different artists, both established and the emerging. The full 2019 programme can be found here.
About Highlights from the Lowlands
This visitors’ programme allows international professionals to fully drench in the dynamics of the festival and the city. The group shares four days together with the festival, the artists and local environment. We run contextualized talks, meetings with artists and discover the local environment. It will be held from August 7th-10th 2019.
This programme will focus on both the Dutch and Flemish artists at the festival. It includes different shows, both theatre and dance, big and small scale, from young and established artists. View the provisional programme.
Practical information
Highlights from the Lownlands covers a 3-night stay in a hotel right in the city centre, full catering (breakfast, lunch and dinners on the programme days), an airport transfer by train (from Amsterdam or Eindhoven Airport) and the organized programme. The only thing you need to take care of is your own transport to one of the airports and a €5 fee per performance. If you’d like to travel green and choose for the train (or other green options), the organization can – on request – partly cover extra costs of your journey to ‘s-Hertogenbosch.
