Belgian world music & folk at WOMEX 2016

From 19 till 23 October the 23rd edition of WOMEX, the World Music Expo, will take place in Santiago de Compostela. WOMEX is thé meeting place for music professionals involved in world music, folk or ethnical music and consists of a trade fair, a conference and a showcase programme. This year, Belgium will be represented by more than eighty professionals from Flanders, Brussels and Wallonia.
Flanders Arts Institute and Wallonie-Bruxelles Musiques will coordinate the Belgian representation by setting up a Belgian booth and organising a network event. The booth will be available for delegates to distribute promotion material and meet other professionals.
This year at WOMEX we”ll also be drawing attention to the new compilation CD ‘Contemporary Folk from Flanders’, which was put together by Flanders Arts Institute in collaboration with fRoots Magazine on the occasion of a focus on Flanders during EFEX, the English Folk Expo. The tracks were selected by Ian Anderson, radio producer and editor of the international fRoots Magazine.
